Q: "Stressed Out" is such a universally relatable title, but stress can mean something completely different from person to person. What specific emotions or experiences inspired this song, and what was happening in your life when you first started writing it?

A: This song was truly an exemplification of the past year we’ve had, anxiety about the unknown and our trip to New York. We all handle anxiety differently and we hope the song reflects that!

Q: Stress and anxiety are often internal experiences that can be difficult to articulate. How did you approach translating those feelings into lyrics that your listeners can connect to?
A: We all were kinda going through it for a little bit and leaned on each other as a family. Inevitably through countless conversations it turned into a song and we loved that process as tough as it was at times.

Q: Did writing the song feel cathartic or therapeutic in any way, or did it force you to sit with emotions you might have otherwise tried to avoid?
A: One hundred percent the song was extremely therapeutic for us, not that we had avoided any emotions but we definitely got to feel them to their fullest capacity while writing this song.

Q: As an artist, how do you balance vulnerability with privacy when writing deeply personal material? Did "Stressed Out" push you outside of your comfort zone in that regard?
A: Art imitates life is so cliche as a quote but it’s true. We’ve always been honest in our songs, but I think as we’ve matured we’ve gotten even better about how to balance the two and how being less specific can say more if that makes sense haha

Q: Were there any artists, albums, or personal influences that helped shape the track?
A: Nightly, the Maine, Mac miller, Dominic fike and the band Camino to name a few!

Q: What do you hope listeners feel during their first listen to "Stressed Out"? Do you want them to feel understood, comforted, challenged, or something else entirely?
A: We hope this track gives you a sense of hope, that there’s a beauty in the unknown and that it’s okay to not know what the road ahead looks like.

Q: If someone hears this song during one of the most stressful periods of their life, what do you hope they take away from it?
A: We hope this track gives you a sense of hope, that there’s a beauty in the unknown and that it’s okay to not know what the road ahead looks like.

Q: How does "Stressed Out" represent where Savings is creatively right now? Does it feel like a natural continuation of your previous work, or the beginning of a new chapter?
A: Most definitely feels like a continuation, a lot of stuff off of how do you feel is definitely a foundation for us to move into this direction creatively! Nonetheless we are still a rock band at our core but stoked to expand our creative palette.

Q: Looking back at the version of yourselves who started writing "Stressed Out," what would you want to tell that person now?
A: The road ahead is always daunting but there’s beauty in not knowing. Take a breathe and enjoy what’s around you <3

Q: If you could leave a message for someone who's about to hear your music for the very first time, what would you say?
A: We absolutely love what we get to do, and we hope you get to see a piece of yourselves in the music we create.
